Together they blend sensitive voicings, rich storytelling, and the raw power of an 18-piece big band into an expressive contemporary jazz experience.

Paul van Kessel is an Amsterdam-based jazz vocalist and producer, acclaimed for his warm crooner voice, international festival presence, and genre-blending jazz, blues, and soul. A seasoned performer at leading festivals and clubs worldwide, he delivers intimate storytelling, refined musical craftsmanship, and a timeless yet contemporary sound rooted in classic jazz traditions.

Licks & Brains are a Dutch 18-piece Soul/Funk/Jazz big band directed by Rolf Delfos, recording artist of over 100 records and one of the leading alto-players in the Netherlands. Licks & Brains performs with top-artists from the Dutch and international Jazz/Funk scene, e.g., Benjamin Herman, Frank Montis, Simone Roerade, Ntjam Rosie, Anton Goudsmit, Joseph Bowie and Robben Ford (tour in 2025).
Licks & Brains’ latest project is Electric Minds, with Eric Vloeimans, featuring an organic blend of horns, electronic grooves and the adventurous playing of Vloeimans.

Paul van Kessel is een in Amsterdam gevestigde jazzvocalist en producer, geprezen om zijn warme croonerstem, internationale festivaloptredens en zijn genre-overstijgende mix van jazz, blues en soul. Als ervaren performer op toonaangevende festivals en in clubs wereldwijd brengt hij intieme verhalen, verfijnd muzikaal vakmanschap en een tijdloos maar hedendaags geluid, geworteld in de klassieke jazztraditie.
